After the uncertainty and chaos the pandemic brought, it is no wonder why many are making their homes a place of sanctuary. Bathrooms are one of the spaces many are finding tranquility and calm after a long day. These sacred rooms are one of the few spaces where it is 100% appropriate to unplug, unwind, and recharge for hours on end.
A bathroom design trend we see continuing is a biophilic approach by styling the bathroom with a range of natural elements such as house plants and pampas grass, natural stones, and warm neutral tones to create a spa-like sanctuary. People are feeling more of a need to be connected to nature to reduce stress and anxiety and improve air quality within the home.
Designers are also seeing a significant rise in the selection of luxury features for the bathrooms for personal hygiene and wellness. Specialty features that create a spa-like retreat have now become a priority for most home buyers. Think luxury features such as deep soaking tubs with aromatherapy functions, bidet toilets, Radiant floor heat and showers, tiled shower using detailed mosaic tile, euro style shower doors featuring thicker glass with minimal framing, stylish hardware and beautiful minimal maintenance granite or quartz solid surface countertops combined with on-trend undermount sinks.
Large high gloss floor and wall tile is also making a huge statement in 2023. High gloss tile has a highly reflected surface making a room look bigger and brighter by reflecting both natural and artificial light. High gloss tile can get slippery in wet areas so be sure to use an anti-slip sealer to help reduce the risk of slips and falls. There are many options (texture, color, style) to choose from depending on your budget – porcelain tile, ceramic tile, marble, or stone.
We are so excited about this trend for 2023 and look forward to helping our clients create the perfect space! ?
